Your Partial Denture Needs to Be Cleaned Every Day

Posted .

The partial denture fashioned for you at Dr. Vincent J. Giaimo’s clinic have been designed to replace the basic function of your missing teeth. Even though they were created from special dental materials that will not be vulnerable to cavities, you will still need to clean the unit every day.

If you use denture adhesive and some food particles do become stuck in the space between the base of the partial denture and your gums, you should thoroughly rinse them clean. It’s important to remove all traces of denture adhesive. Then you can dry the base with a clean paper towel before reapplying more adhesive.

You will also need to rinse your partial denture at the end of each day. This will help to clear away residual denture adhesive to provide a smooth surface to re-apply the denture adhesive the next morning.

Once this is done you need to brush the teeth and gumline of the partial denture with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a little nonabrasive toothpaste. Once it’s been stored away in a safe place, you can go about brushing and flossing your teeth as part of your daily oral hygiene routine.
